There is a lot of stuff which need to be done if I’m going to support a Turkish leader – Mainly towards the Armenians, but also towards Kurds and now also Syria. Turkey need to implement something called democracy, human rights and peaceful behaviour. Turkey is in a state of war, and it continue it’s genocide policy towards the Armenians.
The position of the current Turkish government is that the Armenians who died were casualties of the expected hardships of war, the casualties cited are exaggerated, and that the 1915 events could not be considered a genocide.
Erdogan: “Our documents indicate that there is no genocide that has taken place. Those who claim it must prove it. Having simple lobbying activities and trying to achieve a result in this way is unacceptable to Turkey. “
According to Minority Rights Group, while the government recognizes Armenians as minorities but as used in Turkey, this term denotes second-class status.
Akdamar Island, is the second by size of four islands in Lake Van in the south of Eastern Anatolia Region, Turkey. It is home to a tenth century Armenian Cathedral church, known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy Cross (915-921), and was the seat of an Armenian Catholicos from 1116 to 1895.
Between May 2005 and October 2006, the church underwent a controversial restoration program. Armenian religious leaders invited to attend the opening ceremony opted to boycott the event, because the church was being reopened as a secular museum.
Hürriyet columnist Cengiz Çandar characterized the way the Turkish government handled the opening as an extension of an ongoing “cultural genocide” of the Armenians. He characterizes the renaming of the church from Armenian to Turkish as part of a broader program to rename Armenian historical sites in Turkey, and attributes the refusal to place a cross atop the church as symptomatic of religious intolerance in Turkish society. Turkey need to leave this kind of policy, get rid of Articlle 301, stop arresting journalist and writers, make peace with Armenia, prevent racistic Turks to attack Armenians, pay preparations to Armenia (cause of genocide), stop the ongoing cultural genocide against the Armenians, open the border with Armenia …
Beside of this Turkey has to stop it’s occupation and suppresion of the Kurds and it’s aggression towards Syria
