Sash-Spitak Jard (Armenian genocide)

Thanks to everyone who dedicated their time and effort to make this music video. For those who don’t understand Armenian I will summarize the meaning of my song in couple of sentences:

99 years ago the first genocide of 20th century occurred and over 1.5 million Armenians were eliminated from their historic homeland through forced deportations and massacres.This resulted in vast immigration of Armenians to different countries (those who survived) .

We still demand Turkey to recognize the Armenian genocide and we always keep the memory of all the victims alive but recently I noticed that we are facing a much bigger problem. We are forgetting our language, history, and where we are from. The spinning cycle of history is repeating the same genocide, but this time no blood is shed; thus, it’s called the “white massacre” (spitak jard) and if we don’t stop it now and change ourselves,a century later there will be no such thing as an “Armenian” and we will blend in with everyone else.

We have to reunite and remember how our ancestors tried their best to keep our cultural traditions,religion and language alive and passed it down to the following generations.
