Albert Einstein – Sadness to see Israel do to Palestine what Nazis did to Jews

“It would be my greatest sadness to see Zionists (Jews) do to Palestinian Arabs much of what Nazis did to Jews.” ― Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein – Outstanding Mathematician slammed racist Zionist nationalism

Albert Einstein on racist Zionism, 1938: “Just one more personal word on the question of partition. I should much rath-er see reasonable agreement with the Arabs on the basis of living together in peace than the creation of a Jewish state. Apart from practical consideration, my awareness of the essential nature of Judaism resists the idea of a Jewish state with borders, an army, and a measure of temporal power no matter how modest. I am afraid of the inner damage Judaism will sustain–especially from the development of a narrow nationalism within our own ranks, against which we have already had to fight strongly, even without a Jewish state.”

Prior to the creation of the State of Israel, two Jewish terrorist groups were working to cleanse Palestine of its Arab inhabitants and its British occupiers. The more brutal of these militant Zionist groups was Lohamei Herut Yisrael (Fighters for the Freedom of Israel) also known as the LEHI or the Stern Gang after its founder Avraham Stern.

Much of the financial support for these Jewish terrorists came from the United States. The Stern Gang received money collected under the more perfidious name, American Friends of the Fighters for the Freedom of Israel.

Against his better judgment Shepard Rifkin, a New York-based representative of Lehi and the executive director after the UN Partition of Palestine prior to the creation of Israel in May 1948, wrote to Albert Einstein in the hope of garnering some high-profile support to help the Stern Gang raise American money for arms to drive out the Arabs and help create a Jewish state.

On April 9th, 1948, a month before Israel declared independence, just over one hundred residents of Deir Yassin were massacred by members of the Stern Gang. On April 10th, the day after the infamous massacre of Arabs at Deir Yassin, Einstein replied with a passionate letter to Rifkin calling the Stern Gang terrorists and misled criminals.

His belief that Einstein – a man who publicly backed the creation of a Jewish homeland in the British Mandate of Palestine, but by different means – would agree to such a suggestion was clearly misplaced.

It’s interesting that Einstein’s word, catastrophe, is also the Palestinians’ word in Arabic, the Nakba. This six-line letter, written by the greatest genius of our times, and ironically himself a Jew, Albert Einstein, in the year 1948, is a rare historical manuscript. The letter’s text is hereunder:

Transcript

April 10, 1948

Mr. Shepard Rifkin

Exec. Director

American Friends of the Fighters for the Freedom of Israel

149 Second Ave.

New York 3,N.Y.

Dear Sir:

When a real and final catastrophe should befall us in Palestine the first responsible for it would be the British and the second responsible for it the Terrorist organizations build up from our own ranks.

I am not willing to see anybody associated with those misled and criminal people.

Sincerely yours,

(Signed, ‘A. Einstein’)

Albert Einstein.

The description of the sale runs thus: “You are bidding on an original letter from Albert Einstein to Mr. Shepard Rifkin. Written in 1948 it cautions that any catastrophe befalling the fledgling nation of Israel will come from the actions of either its creators (Britain) or its citizens. Coincidentally the letter was written the morning after the Israelis carried out an unprovoked massacre of Palestinian civilians in the village of Deir Yassin.”

The opening bid is set at $16,000, and has not yet been made.

The proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Deir Yassin Remembered organisation including but not limited to: College scholarships for students pursuing education in Palestine, promotion of equality for all citizens of Palestine, production of public works to bring the truth of occupation to citizens of the world.

If the headlines from 1948 (the Deir Yassin massacre) to the present day (continued illegal settlements by Netanyahu encroaching on the lands of the Palestinians) are any measure of a man’s intellect, one must label Einstein a genius. Israel is indeed its own worst enemy, and here is the prescient pronouncement of it signed by a man of brilliance.

“Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English or France to the French. It is wrong and inhuman to impose the Jews on the Arabs… Surely it would be a crime against humanity to reduce the proud Arabs so that Palestine can be restored to the Jews partly or wholly as their national home”

― Mahatma Gandhi

“People who call themselves supporters of Israel are actually supporters of its moral degeneration and ultimate destruction.”

― Noam Chomsky

The Zionists indeed learnt well from the Nazis. So well that it seems that their morally repugnant treatment of the Palestinians, and their attempts to destroy Palestinian society within Israel and the occupied territories, reveals them as basically Nazis with beards and black hats.

― Norman Finkelstein
